Family....

So, the picture's are of my niece and nephew, Laura and Ciaran, who have me wrapped around their little fingers, I must admit!!

I'm trying to get Ciaran to wear a proper jersey, like a Liverpool FC one!!

In the picture of Ciaran on his own, he is proudly showing off the badge in school last Friday for being a junior helper to the D.S.P.C.A. He loves animals and got a puppy for his birthday last September!

Nanny Knit's Knocker's!!

A Sussex granny has an unusual hobby to pass the time - knitting woollen breasts.

Audrey Horncastle gives her woolly boobs to daughter Rhona Emery, a community nurse, to help teach new mums to breast feed.

And the 84-year-old, from Woodingdean, near Brighton, has churned out more than 100 knitted breasts in little more than three years.

She said: "It only takes a few days to do one and then I pass it on to my daughter. It's a bit of fun. I enjoy the knitting and they are being put to good use.

"People give me a strange look when I tell them what I am knitting and it is unusual but they are fun to do."

Mrs Emery said: "I went to a breast feeding training course and was told about how these things are useful but that they were difficult to get because the pattern is hard to do.

"My mum is good at knitting so I gave her the pattern and she was able to do it. It has just built up from there."

Mrs Horncastle, who is only paid for the cost of materials, says she will carry on knitting as long as there's demand.

"I try to keep the basic fleshy tone but sometimes people ask if I can put in a bit of colour as well just to make things a bit different," she said.

Lego Obama takes the oath!!!

Legoland has stolen a march on the real world by creating an incredibly detailed model of Barack Obama's inauguration as US President.

The model version is already the main attraction at the California theme park - ahead of the highly anticipated real thing.

Lego master craftsmen created a model White House, motorcade, Mr Obama and his whole family - and even queues to the porta-loos.

More than 1,000 mini Lego people surround the construction, with onlookers including outgoing George W Bush and Hillary and Bill Clinton.

Obama's daughters Sasha and Malia are also depicted, standing proudly behind the president-elect as he takes the presidential oath of office on the steps of the Capitol.

Couple fall down hole in pavement!!!

A Chinese couple disappeared when a hole suddenly opened up in the pavement as they were taking a stroll.

The woman fell into a deep pit below Haiyan Street in Zhuhai but the man did not fall so far and managed to clamber out and call the police, reports Dayang Network.

Firefighters had to be called to rescue the woman when police officers realised the pit was at least 20 to 25ft deep and they couldn't even see her.

A crane was brought in to haul the woman out and had to be stationed a distance away because of the danger of more of the pavement collapsing.

Throughout the whole rescue mission, the man talked with his worried girlfriend on the phone to keep her spirits up.

She was finally lifted out after being buried in the hole for nearly two hours. Her boyfriend gave her a big hug, but she was still shivering and too frightened to speak.

Residents suspect the hole, which was less than a metre wide, was caused by ground collapse linked to nearby construction works.

Policeman ordered to drink his own urine!!!

Airport security staff ordered a retired policeman to drink his own urine sample to prove it was safe.

Yu Fahai, 58, was going through security at Pudong International Airport in Shanghai, when he was challenged over a bottle of liquid in his pocket.

Yu, who received a kidney transplant several years ago, has to regularly test his urine for infection, reports News Morning.

"The checker asked me what was inside, and I told her it was my urine. She said: "Urine? Drink some to prove it"," said Yu at his home in Chibi, Hubei province.

Yu, who was taking his first ever flight after attending a TV awards ceremony in Shanghai, has now lodged a complaint against the airport.

An airport spokesman said the security guard mistakenly heard the word 'urine' as 'beverage', and claimed Yu had his boarding card in his mouth, making his pronunciation unclear.

The spokesman added that national regulations forbid passengers from taking liquids on flights but an exception was made for Mr Yu because of his medical history. He also apologised.

Now that's what you call taking the piss!!!!

Bamboozled brides!!!

Three couples got married on a river in China while balancing on bamboo poles.

The brides all wore traditional wedding dresses while the grooms wore suits for the stunt on the Xiangjiang River in Zunyi city, Guizhou province.

All three couples belong to the local single bamboo rafting club, and chose to get married on the water to show their skill at the sport, reports People Daily.

The sport involves racing on the river while balancing on a locally produced bamboo pole around 20cm in diameter.

"They can sit or stand on the piece of bamboo and they can race and compete at other tasks using a thin bamboo oar," explains a club spokesman.

The Zunyi city sporting office says it is trying to promote the new sport and hopes it will become popular across the city.

Katy Perry picked up wrong award!!!

Katy Perry was wrongly given one of the main awards at France's main music ceremony.

The singer collected the trophy for best international song at the NRJ Awards in Cannes, thinking she had won, reports the BBC.

But the award should have been given to Rihanna for Disturbia. Host Nikos Aliagas admitted the error at the end of the show.

Perry, who was among the international stars at the annual event, which was celebrating its 10th birthday, did legitimately scoop the best international album prize.

The winners at the ceremony - the French answer to the Grammys or the Brits - were voted for by listeners of radio station NRJ.

Kerry Trip!!

Managed to make it down to Kerry before I got sick on christmas eve!! Check out how big my little niece is getting since the last time we were down in Kerry in August last year! Even though she is only just gone 10 months, she acts like a little granny at times!! My twin sister had to take her out of her walker as she keeps driving the dog mental! :-)

'Coffee makes you see things'!

Drinking too much coffee dramatically increases the risk of hallucinating, according to new research.

Healthy young men and women who had more than seven cups of instant coffee a day were three times more likely to hear or see things that were not there.

It is thought that caffeine boosts levels of cortisol, a stress hormone, reports the Daily Mail.

The Durham University researchers asked 219 students to document their caffeine intake, working on the principle that a cup of instant coffee contains 45mg of caffeine.

Coffee brewed at home contains more than twice as much, while that from cafes such as Starbucks can have almost 190mg of caffeine.

The volunteers were also asked how often they suffered hallucinations. The high caffeine users were three times as likely to have had problems as those who rarely drank coffee.

Large amounts of caffeine also made people more likely to think they could sense the presence of ghosts, the journal Personality and Individual Differences reports.

University opens porn course!!

A university in Taiwan has opened a course to teach students how to appreciate and analyse porn movies.

The Mass Communication Department of Providence University opened the course this semester, reports United Daily News.

To pass the course, students must give a 15 minute presentation in which they analyse an audience's psychological reaction to a porn clip from an academic perspective.

One worried student, who did not wish to be named, commented: "If I get a very good score in this course, I don't know how I'll explain it to my parents."

When registering for the voluntary course, students signed a paper agreeing that if the scenes were too explicit, they could choose to leave the classroom.

The teacher, assistant professor Miss Chen Mingmei, said no students had ever left her class but some would briefly cover their eyes during the stronger scenes.

More than 50 students registered for the course, and most of them confessed that they had watched porn videos before.

Curiosity was given as the main reason for taking the course and most admitted their parents did not know what they were studying.

Another student admitted: "I am really worried my parents will see the score report when it is mailed home. I won't know what to say if I get a high score, "however if I fail the course, I can speak to my parents and suggest that maybe I should watch more porn."

Came across these on the web and to be honest, I don't think I would be too pushed to try any of them! :-)

Dodgy Road Trip....

So, was a bit on the board side yesterday and I have gotten into the habit of getting in the car and heading on random, unplanned trips which would take me anywhere from Newry to Firies in Kerry.

Yesterday, I decided to pack the Mammy and the Sister into the car and said we shall head up to Junction One just at Ballymena for a bit of shopping as one of my friend's Ray said it was easy enough to find! Oh dear God... What a bad idea!!

The journey took 3 and a half hours, we got totally lost in Ballymena and what is the story with the lack of signs and the double roundabouts up near Belfast?? We ended up going around the double roundabouts so many times that it resembled a scene from National Lampoon's European Vacation!!!

So, we arrived there at 4pm and just about had time for a bit of smash and grab shopping before all the stores closed!

The bargains were great but think I will stick to Newry and Banbridge and save myself the frustration of double roundabouts and the lack of road signs! The signs are so confusing that on route home, we took a turn off that said 'Dublin', and it led us into a carpark!

Let's just say it was an experience! :-)

Chicken helps dog raise puppies!

A hen in China has reportedly shacked up with a dog to help raise its three newborn puppies.

Owner Yang, of Anqian village in Fuqing, said the hen moved into the dog's kennel after it gave birth last month, reports Southeast Express.

Since then, the hen refuses to leave the kennel, staying inside all day and only walking out when the dog is nursing its puppies.

Yang says the hen is very protective of the puppies and refuses to allow strangers to come close to the kennel.

"Quite possibly the hen is envious of the dog because it has no offspring of its own, and so it is trying to take over the puppies," he said.

"The dog seems to have given up the idea of driving the stubborn intruder out and has decided to share the space with the hen."

Shepherd controls flock with wolf poster!

A picture of a shepherd controlling his flock with a poster of a wolf has become an online hit in China.

Du Hebing, of Xi'an, told Huashang Daily that he shot the picture by chance.

"After visiting Qinling Wild Animal Park, on the way home I saw a group of sheep walking along the road with a man holding a picture following behind them," he said.

Du said he burst out laughing when he realised it was a picture of a wolf.

"The man was using the wolf picture to scare the sheep and drive them ahead - it was a really funny scene," he said.

"Maybe he was just trying to save some money by not buying a sheepdog - but he is obviously a talented shepherd."

World's Untidiest Car Banned From The Road!!!

Police in Germany banned a woman driver's car from the road - for being too untidy.

The Opel Astra was so full of junk, magazines, old clothes and even bits of furniture that they could barely see the driver at it roared down a motorway near Dusseldorf.

The driver - who has not been named by police - has been banned from taking the car on the road again until it has passed a tidiness test.

Police said the car was so full of junk the woman's face was pressed up against the windscreen as she drove.

"I'm sure this will make most people feel a lot better about leaving the odd sweet wrapper lying around in their car," joked one police source.
